"Hi there! I'm Fay. I'm a new tutor here on Wyzant, but I have been tutoring online since 2020 and have over 500 hours of 1:1 experience.

I attended an elite liberal arts college, majoring in Philosophy. During my junior year, I was a visiting student at the University of Oxford, where I took tutorials in early modern and continental philosophy. I'm currently a master's student in Philosophy.

My tutoring is centered on two areas: 1) ACT and LSAT test prep and 2) anything to do with the humanities and written language -- this includes philosophy, religious studies, literature, history, anthropology, sociology, academic writing, application essays, adult literacy, ESL, proofreading & editing. Philosophy (western and non-western) and literature are my favorite subjects to tutor, and I especially enjoy the ACT and LSAT sections that involve reading comprehension. Overall, I love to help students develop skills in conceptual and textual analysis and become confident readers and writers.

Beyond academic tutoring, I also teach yoga. I received my 200-hr yoga teacher certification in northern India in 2018 and currently practice a mix of Asthanga and yin yoga.

My tutoring style is relaxed and warm. I am easy-going and bring my light-hearted personality to my sessions. At the same time, I encourage students to realize their potential. I'm adaptable and easily adjust my approach to suit the particular needs, preferences, and qualities of each student. I'm always happy to receive feedback and make changes as necessary.

I scored a 35 on ACT English and 36 on ACT Reading. I've helped motivated students achieve perfect and near-perfect scores on the English and Reading sections.
