I started my teaching "career" in the 6th grade, when a neighbor hired me to tutor her sons in math. As an undergraduate and graduate student, I tutored in a variety of introductory and intermediate classes (statistics, finite mathematics, Calculus, college and intermediate algebra) and even served as a tutor for the football and basketball teams at Indiana University. I am a certified teacher and taught high school and middle school mathematics in La Jolla, CA. For the past several years, I've been teaching undergraduate and graduate university-level courses in math and statistics.

I have experience in a variety of subjects, but especially enjoy tutoring Statistics, Calculus, and all of the Algebra classes (Algebra I & II, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus). My focus as a tutor is helping students to succeed in mathematics through understanding each step of the solution. I have found that students that can "see" the mathematics can often understand the mathematics, so I encourage students to use diagrams and graphs to visualize problems. I am a patient teacher, as well, encouraging students to ask questions as we work and providing additional examples to help students achieve success.
