"Hi! I am Meg and I have loved teaching math since I was 10 years old and made Math Buster videos to teach concepts like counting change and addition to younger students at my elementary school. In high school, I worked at Mathnasium as a math instructor for students elementary school through high school and also worked as a private tutor, specifically helping students with diverse educational needs make sense of foundational math concepts, namely Algebra I & II and Geometry. I am a patient tutor that builds solid relationships with students so that they are comfortable opening up about their struggles. One of my special skills is explaining math concepts in such a way that my students can truly learn the foundational blocks of each subject and then build on that strong base for future success in higher level math classes.
I went to MIT for undergrad where I studied biological engineering (& urban planning) then was selected as a George J Mitchell Scholar to complete my master’s in global health at Trinity College in Dublin. In addition to continuing my work as a private math tutor, I also began advising students during the college application process and working as a college advisor with CollegeAdvisor.com and privately during this time. The college application process and essay writing can be daunting but can also be very empowering as it is truly one of the first times that students can define their narrative and make Big choices for their lives. It is my goal to help students create applications they are proud of and feel ready to begin their next educational phase.
I am eager to work with a range of students to address their specific needs. Please send a message & we can begin." less...
