"Although I am currently a Senior Analytical Chemist, I was a high school certified chemistry teacher in Romania for four years, before coming to the United States. While working as a teacher, I also tutored a number of high school students in Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and especially Organic Chemistry, as well as in math. I had a lot of success with students considered to be at the lowest level of the class by their teachers. It turned out that a little one on one attention, as well as a lot of encouragement throughout the process gave unexpected results, and all of my students started growing before my eyes, and became more confident. They had improved their grades considerably, and some of them even went on to attend higher education schools. Two of my students who started from the very bottom, became very knowledgeable and capable to tutor themselves their classmates in the subject.

What helped me have those results with my students were a number of factors:

1. a very good understanding of the subject

2. trying to understand my students’ needs by trying to figure out what they do not understand, what they do not know

3. trying to explain everything in a way they can understand

4. a lot of patience and dedication

I am looking forward to start tutoring again, as I feel that I have a lot to give, and this process of giving is extremely satisfying and fulfilling." less...
