"I have a bachelor's degree in mathematical sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso. I am also a graduate student studying math at Indiana State University. I have experience with algebra, trigonometry, calculus, geometry, and other math subjects. I am patient and understanding with all my students. I was a tutor for three years at El Paso Community College. I have taught several math classes such as geometry and pre-calculus. I will only tutor subjects in Mathematics, and Introductory Physics. The specific math subjects include, Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Basic Math, Differential Equations, and Applied Linear Algebra. If the subject is not clearly in theses boundaries I will ask for syllabus and sample problems, then make the appropriate decision for taking on a student.
Currently I mostly tutor online with various platforms like Skype and Facebook Messenger. I will tutor in person locally at coffee shops, libraries, or in-home visits. I ask all my students prior to a session to send materials, or specific problems through email, and text at least 24 hours in advanced. During the first part of the session I ask the student what he or she would like to cover. Most students want help with certain homework and problems which is fine with me. I normally work problems on Microsoft OneNote. When working problems, I will write notes in-between steps to help guide the students through the process. I will rework or show additional steps if the has student requested it. I will send copies of session notes to the student's email after the session. I also try not to do all the work for the student and challenge them to learn the material by asking questions to test for general understanding of a specific concept. We may review previously learned material needed to solve the current problems. I am good at helping with remediation and recitation work. Sometimes students will want a more structured class for learning rather than supplemental education for a current class. I" less...
