"I have completed a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Italian Studies with minors in Business Administration and Communication. I have a level II advanced tutor certification from the College Reading and Language Association and worked with students with learning challenges for about 2 years in a peer tutor position during my undergraduate career. I absolutely loved my tutoring job and working with the students, it was an immensely rewarding job so I was sad to leave when I graduated and moved out of state for flight school to pursue a career in aviation. Upon completion of my flight training, I also earned Advanced Ground Instructor, Certified Flight Instructor and Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument certificates. I then taught multiple ground and flight curricula such as Remote Pilot, Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor, and Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument courses.
During my time as a peer tutor, I tutored various classes that I had previously taken myself, and even some courses I had not taken! Since beginning my tutoring job in college, I have tutored over 30+ students. With the students who I worked with more regularly, they saw improvements in the general quality of their assignments, their study habits across all of their courses, and of course, in their overall course grade - sometimes up by 2 letter grades! But I must say, though I did work with them, all improvements are due to the students' own hard work!
My approach as a tutor is not giving the students the answers, nor teaching from square one, but rather, giving the student direction towards being able to study effectively on their own with guided questioning and providing the student studying techniques that they can use and practice with any course outside of the course we are working on. I also like to get to know the student and their learning styles so we can utilize techniques that will be most effective for them." less...
