"I'm Elyssa! I graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree as well as the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences. As a physical therapist, I am constantly educating patients of all ages on the human body, movement principles, and other health related topics. I have learned the importance of breaking complex topics into bite size nuggets of information and individualizing the ways I present the information to best suit the needs of each individual. Everyone learns differently, and I respect that by first getting a sense for the unique needs of that individual and tailoring my explanations accordingly. I check for understanding by having the patient practice the concept and essentially "teach back" what they have learned, and then provide feedback as appropriate.

During middle and high school, I tutored elementary students in basic math and English. I believe that my knowledge and skills as a physical therapist are highly transferable to tutoring, and I look forward to working with more students to grow my tutoring experience. Just as I have helped thousands of PT patients achieve their personal best outcomes, I know I can do the same for students that are seeking help achieving their personal best outcomes.
