"Hello, I'm Ansley! I’m a recent college graduate with a BA in Spanish and French. I’ve always had a passion for languages and love sharing that passion with others!
I have 9 years of experience speaking Spanish and was a peer-to-peer tutor for Spanish at my university. I’m a member of the Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honors Society. I have also studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During my time in Buenos Aires, I attended classes at Universidad Torcuato De Ditella and lived with a host family.
I have 3 years of experience speaking French and studied abroad in La Rochelle, France in Fall 2022. While in France, I took courses at La Rochelle Université and passed the DELF exam at the B2 level.
As a tutor, I’ve tutored both individually and in groups. My methods involve using worksheets and both guided and independent exercises to reinforce the material we cover. I also show the student how to use helpful resources, such as conjugation trainers and Quizlet sets, in the way that will best benefit them.
For speaking practice, I try to create a stress-free, comfortable environment by reminding the student that practice doesn't have to be perfect to be beneficial. I choose and adapt a topic according to the student's needs, interests, and comfort level. For instance, if I have a beginner student with an interest in soccer, I would ask them simple questions about the sport, such as "Do you play soccer?" and "Who is your favorite soccer player?"
I've worked extensively with college students in tutoring and non-tutoring settings. I’ve worked as an Orientation Leader for my university and this experience as well as my time tutoring has taught me how to adapt to the individual needs of students with different knowledge bases, backgrounds, and personalities. I've also worked with children ages 5-12 for several years as a camp counselor, baby-sitter and nanny, and by volunteering at my local Good News Club as well as my local elementary school." less...
