"I am currently student teaching in a 4th grade classroom and will finish at the end of this month (February). I will then be substitute teaching in area schools as I work to complete the exam required to receive my Iowa teaching license. I have my Reading Endorsement and hope to eventually become a Reading Specialist. After I have taught for 3 years I will work to get my master's degree. I have worked in Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 4th grade classrooms. I also home schooled my own children for 3 years when they were younger. I find learning exciting and work hard to find what works best for each student and their learning style. I am good at putting people at ease and helping them connect with their ability to problem solve. I believe every student has what they need inside themselves to accomplish anything they put their minds to. It is my hope that I can help them find the keys to unlock any doors they encounter and to see in themselves how capable and excellent they are.

I am a mother of 4 sons, ages 8 - 17. One son has ADHD and I am very familiar with how to work with such issues. I have a part time job working for a company in South Central Iowa, SIRF (Southern Iowa Resources for Families). I am a community support specialist with this organization and I work with 2 - 3 teenage girls helping them learn life skills. This ranges from cooking and cleaning skills, to price comparing, safety in public, social skills, and budgeting skills. I have worked with this organization for just over 2 years.
