"I have some experience in tutoring, however, much experience in mentoring students. I am fully aware that academics is only a part of the holistic education a student needs in order to maximize their growth potential, and as a result, it is only a part of my responsibility as a tutor. A student requires inspiration and motivation, and the distinction between these two is as important as each of these ideals. Motivation requires a great coaching and continuous support, while inspiration provides a student with the qualities to continue without motivation. Inspiration can come from watching someone's dedication and final achievement, and is more sustainable. However, both of these ideas are necessary to produce ultimate success.
I am also a extremely professional, and also personable individual. I have had the experiences that qualify my cognizance of students who face cultural and developmental challenges, and students who enjoy more support. I believe in the value of both types of students and I understand that as educators, we must meet the student where he/she is, rather than where we anticipate they should be. Ultimately, though, I am able to create an environment where I can actualize the desires of students and parents effectively and efficiently.
I love History. I often tell my students that Historians are not only concerned about 'what happened in the past', we are invested in the process of how that information came to be. We are interested in how these records are created and why they are created. Ultimately, as a Historian, I posses the analytical skills to determine what may be 'true' from what is conjecture. Social Sciences and Social Studies are a matter of perspective, and often, so is the 'truth'. In this way, the realm of Political Science is a matter of Cultural, Ethnic, and Nationalistic concerns, and as a teacher, my responsibilities include teaching students how to think, not what to think.
I encourage students and parents to contact me if they require some who is ope" less...
