"I am a UC Berkeley Computer Science graduate with 25 years of industry experience. While my professional work has been enjoyable, I find tutoring and helping students succeed to be even more gratifying. My tutoring philosophy is for students to walk away with a solid understanding of the topics, as Math and Computer Science are foundational building blocks for many advanced topics. It is important that students build enough confidence in each topic before moving on. I apply multiple methods in my explanations while also encouraging students to share their thought processes. I bring in examples of real world applications to further solidify the concepts. Many young learners are curious about Math, but may lose confidence when it becomes difficult. My goal is to rebuild this confidence and inspire students to find that curiosity again.

I have two years of Math tutoring experience with middle and high school students in Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. Last year, my Calculus students scored a 5 on their AP exams. I also serve as a math coach for a middle school math competition program. We work on problem sets and participate in math competitions (Mathcounts, MOEMS, and AMC8). This experience with math competitions allows me to provide a unique perspective by drawing upon a more diverse set of problems when explaining math concepts.

I have one year of Computer Science tutoring experience. I created a personalized curriculum to teach Python to a 10th grade student, tutored high school students in AP Computer Science Principles, and tutored college students in C, C++, and Java. I have completed hundreds of leetcode challenges and I rank globally in the top 10% of all leetcode competitors. I am fluent in C, C++, C#, Objective-C, Swift, Java, Python, and PHP.
