"I got my M.A. from Columbia University and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. I taught two college-level anthropology courses at UVA and one high school enrichment program associated with UNESCO. I am currently teaching World History in a public high school.
My tutor sessions will be held in the form of a seminar, which requires you to actively participate in the process. These seminars are designed to enhance your overall ability in your academic pursuit in social sciences. Improving your grade might be a by-product.
My teaching methods involve Socratic questioning and PBL. I will communicate with you in advance and get to know you and your needs. For each session, we will agree on a set of readings we will be working on. You are responsible for reading all the materials before our session begins and be prepared to answer questions based on your understanding of the materials.
During the session, I will guide you through the readings and expand on the scope and depth of the relevant knowledge. I will help you with your school essay/project/research or design a project/research for you to enhance your understanding of the subject matter.
After our session, you should spend some time reviewing and working on the essay and project on your own. I will provide feedback before the next session starts.
If you choose to conduct qualitative academic research in the fields of anthropology, sociology, history, cultural studies, film studies, etc., I will guide you through the whole process from choosing a topic, forming research questions, writing a research proposal, collecting data, and analyzing data, to the very end of preparing for publishing." less...
