"I have 20 years' experience tutoring high school/college level mathematics. Most of my tutoring has been informal, but as a graduate student, I supervised my department's tutoring lab. Additionally, I have 10+ teaching all levels of math in a university setting.

I enjoy tutoring because it lets me communicate a beautiful, challenging, and practical subject to others. Helping a student understand or master a concept is priceless.

I have a Ph.D. in mathematics from Texas A&M university, summer 2011. My education and teaching/tutoring experience allows me to quickly diagnose underlying gaps or misunderstandings in knowledge. It also gives me several points of view from which to approach material.

I have taught college algebra, trigonometry, and calculus (and many higher level math courses) multiple times, and I know what is required to succeed in a given subject, and how to lay a foundation for success in future coursework.

I know that mathematics can be hard (really hard). Anyone who simply says, "math is easy once you've got the basics" hasn't really run into the tough stuff yet; there is enough out there to challenge ANYBODY. As such, I don't judge; everyone is at their own level. Challenging though a class or subject may be, hard work and patience are almost always enough to become proficient in it, and together we'll work to get you where you want to be." less...
