"Hello! My name is Lydia, and I am a Ph.D. student in Earth & Planetary Sciences at Rutgers University. I am passionate about helping students master biological concepts and scientific skills through personalized, engaging tutoring sessions. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students can thrive, reach their academic potential, and develop a love for learning.
I specialize in biology and related subjects, offering tutoring for middle school science, high school biology, psychology, and college-level biology and social sciences. I hold a BA in Psychology from Chestnut Hill College (Summa Cum Laude), with minors in Criminal Justice, Political Science, and Legal Studies, as well as an MS in Biology from Rutgers University (4.0 GPA). Additionally, I spent a year at the University of Oxford studying Experimental Psychology and Politics.
My tutoring experience spans multiple disciplines and age groups. As an undergraduate, I tutored a peer in quantitative methods for psychology, helping them grasp challenging statistical concepts. During my post-baccalaureate program, I mentored a student in general biology, offering study strategies and work-life balance tips. I also completed the Leadership LIVE series, which emphasized ethical leadership, teamwork, and self-awareness.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I tutored a college junior with a learning disability in exercise science, psychology, biology, and chemistry. This experience strengthened my ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and simplify complex topics. Additionally, helping my stepchildren with homework has further honed my ability to break down difficult concepts into manageable pieces for students of all ages.
I believe true mastery of a subject comes from the ability to teach it simply and effectively. Whether you need help with high school biology, psychology, or advanced college topics, I am here to support your academic journey. Together, we’ll build confidence, tackle challenges, and achieve your goals!" less...
