"I have been an educator all of my life. My professional background is second to none. I have a PhD in early American Intellectual History from the University of Nevada, an MA in 20th century Cultural History from Rutgers University, and a BA in American History from Columbia University. I taught at the college level as an assistant professor for 5 years, but have been teaching at the high school level since 2015. I have been published in peer reviewed academic journals such as the Journal of History and Cultures and American Catholic Studies, among others. I have held fellowships and lectured at schools throughout the country - including Stanford, Brown, and Berkeley.
Most importantly, I am employed by the College Board and am a certified Reader and Grader for the AP US History (APUSH) and AP Government and Politics (APGOV) examinations. That means I know exactly what the College Board wants students to master in order to perform well on the exam. I can teach you the skills - MCQs, SAQs, DBQs, and LEQs - that the College Board uses to assess students on the exams. Paired with my content knowledge, this places me in a unique position to help my students understand not only the material, but the skills they need to achieve success. My scores speak for themselves. In the last 5 years I have tutored 26 year-round students - all of whom passed their exams and 24 of whom (92%) scored a 4 or a 5.
I have flexible hours and many resources so students can work on their skills with or without me present. I am a full service tutor, meaning that I am available to answer questions through text, chat or email, but I only charge for the time we spend together, making much of my service free. Please contact me if you have any questions before scheduling our first lesson." less...
