"Thank you for visiting my profile! I am a dedicated science and music educator with a unique interdisciplinary approach to teaching. My academic journey spans biology, chemistry, music, and psychology as an undergraduate, culminating in a PhD in cancer genetics from UCSF. I have worked with diverse learners, including individuals with ADHD, OCD, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders, and anxiety.
Biology & Chemistry
Since 2010, I have conducted biomedical research in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, and cancer biology. This extensive experience underpins my ability to teach biology and chemistry at all levels, from elementary to graduate studies. My expertise includes cell and molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, human anatomy, neuroscience, microbiology, general and organic chemistry, and biochemistry. I also assist with standardized test prep, including the DAT, SAT Subject Tests, and AP exams.
With over 15 years of teaching and research experience, I excel at simplifying complex concepts, fostering deep understanding, and emphasizing critical thinking over rote memorization. My goal is to empower students to approach scientific problems confidently, regardless of their background.
Piano
As a classically trained pianist with a year of formal piano pedagogy training, I bring a scientific approach to piano instruction informed by deep insights in neuroscience and human anatomy to develop effective kinesthetic, intellectual, and artistic skills. Over the past 14 years, I have taught more than 300 students (ages 5–60), focusing on piano, music theory, composition, and competition preparation. While I’ve worked with learners of all ages, I currently specialize in adult instruction.
Whether in science or music, I tailor my teaching to meet each student’s unique needs and help them achieve their goals." less...
