While there, I took several education classes and considered a minor in secondary education, but decided to instead pursue mathematical research. After my undergraduate degree, I decided to pursue a Ph.D. in mathematics at Colorado State University, and have since been promoted to candidacy.
Having over a decade of tutoring and teaching experience, I have worked with students ranging in age from first grade through adult college students. With this wide range of age in students, I have tutored or taught most mathematical subjects between early arithmetic skills and advanced courses such as real analysis. In a formal classroom setting, I have taught grade schoolers, as well as college students in calculus and linear algebra. Additionally, I have worked both one on one and in small groups with students of all ages.
I pride myself on a student-focused approach, learning how individual students think about math to best help them succeed. Whether providing remediation or enrichment, I give students the opportunity to prioritize understanding over answers. This method has proven successful for most of my former students, boosting both grades and confidence." less...
