"I earned my PhD from Harvard University in Biology (with a focus on molecular biology and synthetic biology) and my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the same field from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I had the opportunity to teach college-level laboratory and seminar courses in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, and genetics at Harvard and UCSD. In addition to being a teaching assistant and teaching fellow in a classroom setting, I also held weekly office hours and found that students who came for one-on-one learning left with a much better grasp of the subject matter. I also received a teaching award at Harvard University for Introduction to Life Sciences 1b covering topics in genetics, genomics, and evolution.
I have always had a passion for science and teaching, and I believe learning is a lifelong endeavor. My emphasis when learning and teaching biology is on a solid understanding of fundamental concepts. As the fields within biology are broad and often interconnected, a core understanding of basic principles allows for rapid acclimation to new subject matter as you progress on your journey studying biological subjects. Whether you are pre-med or pre-vet, interested in research, interested in a health related field, struggling with general education requirements, or your child wants to get ahead in AP biology or high school biology I would love to help grow an interest and appreciation for biology in its many forms. I think everyone learns in different ways, and finding the best way for you or your child to succeed will be my mission.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson." less...
