"Hi, I'm Dr. Kaytie! I am a faculty member at Drexel University. I earned a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology & Genetics from Drexel University College of Medicine and a B.S. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from Gettysburg College. I have ten years and 1500+ contact hours of teaching and tutoring experience from high school to graduate level, including as Drexel's seniormost tutor and achieving CRLA level 2 certification. Topics I cover include high school chemistry, AP Bio, college biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.

My goal is to make topics fun and memorable. Not to brag, but my students have said that my lectures are the only ones they don't fall asleep in! I have many tools to explain concepts, focusing on connecting to the "bigger picture"- helping you to understand what you're learning and WHY. Together we will draw, outline, act out, and explain your way to academic success. My students also develop academic independence along the way; I have extensive training in socratic methodology and will help you make the connections yourself, rather than becoming dependent on me for answers. My students score very highly on their exams and tend to need less time in tutoring overall.

I also tutor writing and work with neurodivergent students. I love editing papers for content and flow! I will help you develop a stronger writing voice and become an impactful writer. As someone with ADHD myself, I learned to use my neurodivergence to my advantage to successfully earn my PhD. Together, we can brainstorm coping mechanisms and strategies to help you overcome personal challenges and conquer your studies. I also discuss test-taking and time-management strategies. We will integrate these into our sessions to ensure that you leave with the resources to understand the material we covered and how to study effectively.
