"I hold a PhD in Biology with a research emphasis in evolution, genomics, bioinformatics, and statistics. I teach at the undergraduate & post-graduate levels as well as model STEM curriculum for high and middle school. Teaching is my passion, and I make my interest in the topic infectious to students. I am skilled at summarizing content and making it easier for students to digest and grasp quickly.
As a scientific researcher, quantitative skills are required. I enjoy sharing my love of quantitative reasoning with students, which includes: statistics, biostatistics, data science, data visualization, and various topics in biology (bioinformatics, botany, anatomy & physiology, microbiology, evolution, genetics, and general bio). In addition to these topics, I teach programming skills in the following areas: R & R Studio, Tableau, SPSS, Excel, introductory C++ and Python, SQL and databases, and Unix / shell scripting.
I am especially keen to help students with test anxiety or those with diagnosed learning or other disabilities. Throughout the years, I have worked with students with ADD/ADHD, autism, oppositional defiant disorder, dyslexia, total blindness, hearing loss, and physical disabilities. I love to empower students to be their best versions of themselves, regardless of how differently abled they are. As someone with multiple disabilities, I empathize deeply with these students.
Note:
I work often with MSDS students and data science micro Masters / certificate students from various programs, as well as MPH and Business Analytics students. Don’t hesitate to reach out to see if I can help you meet the expectations of your course!
