"I have a PhD in Philosophy from Fordham University. My specialty during my graduate studies was 19th Century German philosophy, with a particular focus on the work of Friedrich Nietzsche. I have various university-level teaching certifications, including one in “Effective Teaching Practices” from the Association of College and University Educators. Additionally, I am fluent in spoken and written German as a second language speaker and have some experience working with graduate students who want to improve their reading ability in German for research purposes.
I have over a decade of university classroom teaching experience in philosophy, ethics, and logic. Additionally, I have over six years of experience teaching students online in both synchronous and asynchronous modalities. My methods and approaches to teaching are all informed by a holistic concern for students as persons and a personal commitment to an ideal of inclusive excellence.
Most of my teaching experience has been with undergraduate students studying philosophy and/or logic as a general education requirement during the first two years of an undergraduate degree. One aspect of this teaching that I’ve enjoyed most is working with students one on one during office hours, e.g., by helping them improve drafts of course papers, clarifying difficult concepts for them from reading assignments, or simply discussing their interests in relation to course material.
