"Hello! I have always had an affinity for science, math, and teaching. I recently moved to Twin Falls from Pennsylvania, where I completed my P.h.D. at Penn State in Soil Science. During my doctoral program, I taught or TA'd five different college level science courses. I have tutored junior high and high school students in chemistry, calculus, pre-algebra, algebra, and algebra II.

I have taken many courses in chemistry, physics, math, statistics, and earth sciences as part of my course-work and excelled in them. I have been involved in scientific research for the last ten years, where I have had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of scientific and mathematic principles.

I take teaching to be a very serious matter- not that I don’t like to have fun, or that I don’t have a sense of humor- but that I take responsibility for potentially impacting a person’s future.

The structure of my lessons may vary slightly from student to student or week to week, but it is typically as follows (for students with recurring, weekly tutoring sessions). I prepare a review/refresher of materials learned in class that week (5-10 minutes). I ask the student to discuss what they find difficult in the material covered. I ask the student basic questions on the material covered in order to fully assess their understanding of the material (10-20mins). We spend the remaining time of the session (30-40mins) working on practice problems that I determined to be most difficult for the student. We discuss strategies for problem solving and methods to avoid common mistakes and pitfalls.
