"Hi! I am a PhD student in Chemistry. I graduated with a degree in biochemistry with the distinction of honors in the major. I also have experience with higher level mathematics. I had over two years of experience tutoring organic chemistry and biochemistry to college students. Now as a graduate student I am a chemistry teaching assistant where I instruct students in subjects like Organic laboratories and lecture. I conduct research in photochemistry where I apply and use material from various disciplines of chemistry, physics, and mathematics. My research helps me to conceptualize and explain concepts to students in applicable ways.
My undergraduate was in Biochemistry, with many classes of mathematics. In addition to chemistry, my mathematics background includes courses such as Calculus 1-3, ordinary and partial differential equations, linear algebra, and statistics. Specific chemistry courses I have taken include Organic chemistry I & II, Biochemistry I & II, Physical Chemistry I & II, and Instrumental Analysis. Specific courses I have tutored/taught are Organic Chemistry I & II, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry Laboratory, as well as select biology classes. My teaching method employees attempting problems even if difficult, then building up to an answer in a way that leaves you with the tools to solve the next problem you see, rather than just telling you what to do. I find that this typically prepares students not only for success on a particular exam or assignment, but rather in a whole course and beyond. My goal is to help students understand concepts and material in a way that boosts their confidence and enables academic success!" less...
