"Hi, I’m Ryan. I am a current Phd student studying criminal justice. I have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology from the University at Albany where I graduated magna cum laude, and a master’s degree in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I have over 5 years’ experience working at the New York County District Attorney’s Office in Manhattan within the Alternatives to Incarceration (ATI) Unit. I also previously worked for the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, in Albany, NY and served on a restorative justice board in upstate Vermont. I previously mentored students in the transition from high school to college, assisting with organization, assignments and adjusting to college life. I have specific interests in the areas of criminal behavior and drug addiction.
I believe in the importance of collaborative and project-based learning as opposed to lecturing and test-taking. Prior to my undergraduate years, I was a poor test-taker who struggled with test anxiety. However, I self-taught and adapted studying methods that not only reduced my anxiety but allowed me to excel in test-taking and education. Aside from tutoring criminal justice, I am available to assist in writing, college applications and to collaboratively proofread essays. I look forward to the opportunity to share my knowledge and maximize your learning potential." less...
