"My name is Sawyer, and I'm excited to share my approach to tutoring (and a little bit about me!).

My family and I moved to Columbia, MO in 2021 so I could pursue doctoral training in school psychology at the University of Missouri. I completed a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Central Missouri in 2018 and earned a master's degree in school psychology from the University of Missouri in 2024. I expect to complete my PhD in 2027. Although degrees help efficiently communicate one's expertise, they're meaningless without the skills to back them up. For nine years, I've supported elementary-age kiddos by designing and implementing individualized instruction across skills including reading, early language development, math calculation, and activities of daily living.

I take an evidence-based, responsive approach to academic tutoring. That means I use the best available science to inform my practice. During tutoring, I work with students to identify goals, ways to measure progress toward those goals, and make changes to the plan when progress stagnates.
