"I am a university professor and scientist with a Ph.D. in Microbiology and numerous interdisciplinary postdoctoral and 10+ years of experience teaching university-level (undergraduate and graduate levels) Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, and Public Health. I also have scientific research experience, and ongoing scientific projects, studying the immunology and physiology of the human respiratory health system when exposed to different contaminants we often encounter in our environments.
Teaching and sharing knowledge are among my purposes as a professional and person! For this purpose, I seek to help students self-discovered themselves and go beyond their comfort zones to master the topics of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Genetics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, and Public Health.
I have 10+ years of experience teaching in higher education in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Genetics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, and Public Health is complemented by interdisciplinary training: Ph.D. in Microbiology (Univ. of Puerto Rico-Medical Sciences Campus), a postdoctoral fellowship in Environmental Health Sciences (Johns Hopkins University School of Public), science teaching fellowship (American Society for Microbiology) and training in data science, genomic data science, systems biology, and bioinformatics (Johns Hopkins University, Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai, and the University of California at San Diego, respectively).
My teaching philosophy is centered on creating inclusive, psychologically supportive, and transformative learning environments where students receive validation, and guidance. Mistakes are allowed because they are also part of the learning." less...
