"Hi, I've been teaching History at an elite independent school in New York City for 19 years. I have taught 9th grade, 11th grade, and 12th grade. I am expert at helping students improve their writing and critical reading skills. My content-area specialty is in American History, but I can help in a range of topics. I can help students review homework, prepare for tests, and, as mentioned, work on essays. While I won't write anyone's essay for them, I can provide tremendous assistance in formulating theses and developing clear, well-supported arguments. I can also help students simplify and clarify their prose.

In terms of my experience and training, I have an M.A. in American Studies and my PhD in History, with a focus on U.S. History and Women's History. I began teaching at the college level and then moved to High School education in 2006. I have extensive experience as a classroom teacher, and accordingly, I know how to explain information clearly, and ensure that students understand it.

My methods will vary depending on what each student needs. Each session will be directly tailored to those needs, and I will ensure that no session ends without the student feeling that they are more confident in their understanding of the material, and/or in their writing. It is important to me to establish an easy rapport with my classroom students, and I hope to do the same with anyone whom I tutor; I'll go so far as to say I hope sessions are both informative and maybe even a little fun!
