"After receiving my PhD from Texas Tech University Health Science Center, I have had the pleasure of teaching various disciplines of science including Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmacology, Embryology, Genetics, Histology, and General Biology at the university level for the past 25+ years. In addition, I was involved in laboratory research for many years in the fields of pharmacology, physiology, and embryology. During this time, I was honored to receive the “Chancelor’s Award for Teaching Excellence” and the “Outstanding Professor Award” from the students on multiple occasions over the years. It was the love of working with my students that made me want to excel at what I did and to look forward to going to the classroom each day. I could not think of anything more rewarding than to see the interest build within them as they too began to discover the miracles of science and the human body.
Having recently retired from full time teaching, it did not take me long to realize that I missed the interaction with the students and so I am back as a part-time teacher at the university teaching upper level and graduate courses and as a tutor to individuals and small groups.
Just as each of us are unique individuals, we also are different in our abilities to express ourselves and to learn. I have prided myself over the years in being able to recognize those characteristics and traits and therefore how to help each student grasp the material and to succeed.
I have developed a number of innovative teaching techniques and strategies to present the information and to tailor the sessions to help those who may be struggling.
We all have our dreams and goals in life, and just as I was able to achieve my own, nothing gives me a greater pleasure than to help others meet and succeed in reaching their own.
It is my hope that you will see how passionate I am for the subjects I teach and for the opportunity to instill that same excitement for learning within you." less...
