"Physics can feel overwhelming, but with the right approach, it becomes a fascinating puzzle. I’m Dr. Alyona Haritonova, and I’ve spent over a decade helping students master physics in a way that makes sense to them. I hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in Physics from St. Catherine University, where I graduated valedictorian. My journey has taken me from cutting-edge research at Mayo Clinic and Medtronic to teaching college-level engineering courses and tutoring high school students in AP Physics (1, 2, and C), Honors Physics, SAT Physics, and introductory college physics.
At the University of Minnesota, I taught large undergraduate classes of 80+ students and smaller lab sections, breaking down complex topics like kinematics, electricity and magnetism, and rotational motion into simple, understandable steps. Beyond the classroom, I’ve worked one-on-one with high school and college students, focusing on building confidence and problem-solving skills. Many of my students have gone on to earn higher AP scores, excel in SAT Physics, and improve their overall performance.
My approach makes physics approachable and engaging. I don’t believe in memorization for the sake of it—physics is about understanding the "why" behind the formulas. Whether you're preparing for an exam, tackling a tough homework problem, or building a strong foundation, I tailor each lesson to your learning style. Expect a supportive, interactive environment where questions are always welcome, real-world examples bring concepts to life, and even the trickiest problems become manageable.
If you’re ready to boost your physics confidence and see the subject in a new light, let’s work together! I look forward to helping you reach your academic goals." less...
