"I am Palash, a scientist with a long and continuing association with academia. I have a Bachelors and Masters Dual Degree in Electrical Engineering/Microelectronics from IIT Bombay. I got my PhD (Physics) from the University of Rochester, followed by postdoc work at ETH Zurich. I then worked as a professor at Rice University, where I taught undergraduate and graduate level physics classes for 5 years.
My own interest in physics and science in general has been shaped by my teachers and professors in school and college. Quite literally, I am doing what I am doing today because of the excellent teachers I was lucky to have. Later, during my own teaching career at Rice, my class on Quantum Mechanics for Engineers was so popular and well-received by students (juniors and seniors) that a good fraction of them decided to go to graduate school. "Simply the best class in all my four years of college!" was an often-heard feedback I got from my students.
Even before becoming a professor, I was actively involved in tutoring and mentoring undergraduate college students (at Rochester and ETH Zurich). I have taught GRE prep summer classes to seniors, as well as been a teaching assistant for many college physics and engineering courses at all levels.
I believe in making learning an enjoyable experience for my students, and can help you overcome math (or physics!) anxiety and fear of learning new concepts. Whether you are preparing for a test, or are struggling in a class, or would simply like your innate talent and passion for physics and math to get nurtured, I can provide a unique tutoring experience tailored to your needs. I love to share my joy and awe at understanding the physical world around us with my students.
My preferred style of tutoring is an interactive (in-person or online) student-led session, with hand-holding only as and when required. I encourage you to get in touch with me about your tutoring needs, and I look forward to helping you achieve the results you desire." less...
