"I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with degrees in both physics and mathematics. I'm doing a PhD in physics now at the Ohio State University.
I've been tutoring for quite a while. My first experience was in high school as a volunteer tutor, which I really enjoyed. I specifically tutored math and physics. At CMU, I started working as a tutor, and received National Certification from the National Board of Tutors. I tutored many undergrad students in math classes. I did both one on one tutoring, as well as "drop-in" tutoring at a library, where I would help large groups of students with homework for a couple of hours every night
At CMU, I was also a teaching assistant for 2 years. I taught the intro to mathematics course (similar to a discrete math class). This covered a wide range of topics, and was quite a difficult course, but my students always appreciated my style of teaching, where I encouraged them to problem solve in creative ways. I was also responsible for grading and designing review sessions.
I'm currently a TA at OSU for the intro physics courses, namely the second semester of physics for pre-med students. I lead recitation sections twice a week, and run labs for students. I've received very positive student evaluation that led to my promotion to the Head TA role this year, where I have expanded responsibilities.
I've always enjoyed teaching and tutoring, I find it incredibly rewarding to see someone else succeed and grow. I also want to share my passion for the subjects of math and physics that I love, and hopefully inspire a new generation of scientists and mathematicians." less...
