"If you’re looking for a tutor who can break down all the science lingo into “normal human speak,” look no further! I originally went to school for drafting and worked as an Engineering Technician for three years before deciding to become a science teacher, physics to be specific. During my undergraduate, I was prepared for teaching all sciences but focused on Physics. This meant I took more math than most people ever want to know and engineering courses were my electives! My student teaching was completed in an inquiry based physics class with students taking algebra at the same time. Eventually, I would go on to earn my Master’s in science education also.
In my teaching career, I seem to have taught it all, except anatomy. My first year included physics, physical science, biology, chemistry, and algebra. Then I moved to teaching middle school for six years. Five of those teaching 8th grade science and one year of electives for grades 6-8 including computers, pre-engineering, tech ed, and an independent learning engineering course allowing students to explore an individual interest. Then it was back to high school to teach more biology, chemistry, and environmental science. After a year I landed a job teaching physics and AP Physics 1 which I did for 3 years before deciding to take a year off.
And here I am! I have been tutoring for the last 8 years off and on. In those eight years, I have also helped run a test prep course with my former coworker where we help students prepare for the ACT and SAT tests.
I prefer to tutor online currently to allow less commuting time. During the year I taught physics from home I have learned some tips and tricks to allow for successful online tutoring." less...
