"Hi, my name is Ashley.

I went to public school until the seventh grade. Due to heart related medical problems and being in the hospital a lot, my twin sister and I were home schooled. I began understanding writing and English so much better. For my physical education, I took private and group dance classes, as well as became a competitive dancer. I went from being below average to graduating high school with a 4.0 GPA. With individualized support, I realized it made a difference in building my self-confidence and self-esteem. I want others to feel this way as well. I would enjoy tutoring students in English, Writing, ESL, Social Work, Psychology, Ballet, and more (online) in a positive, low stress environment. I enjoy teaching students of all ages.

I graduated from San Diego State University. I graduated with a degree in social work (Dean’s list each semester), post Baccalaureate in Marriage and Family Therapy and I have a master’s degree in Health Psychology and a post Master's certificate in Teaching. In college I was a TA (teacher’s assistant) tutoring college level math. I was also involved in classes that focused on helping ESL students. While obtaining my BA in Social work, I completed an internship working with at risk youth, and one of my tasks was to assist students with their coursework. I tutored in math, English, and writing. I loved seeing their accomplishments.

I now have over twenty years’ experience in dance, I have been a competitive dancer and have won many awards. I have also, been taught by Russian ballet teachers that showed me discipline and technique. I have taken ballet in college and I am skilled in ballet terminology. I enjoy teaching others this elegant artistry.

I enjoy tutoring and teaching students. I have a unique way of teaching to keep a child’s interest. I am disciplined, kind, and patient.
