"Hi, my name is Justin. Music has always been an integral part of my life. I've been a musician for over 30 years and I pour my heart out into every performance. I have Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music and I've been involved in everything from massive orchestras to jazz combos to solo avant-garde performances. As a teacher, I have over 15 years of experience working with students of all ages and abilities explore and enjoy the wide world of music.

I currently teach instrumental lessons in clarinet, bass clarinet and saxophone. If you're a beginner, you'll learn the basics of whichever instrument you choose (instrument assembly, technique, posture, note reading) and when you're ready, you'll develop a good tone, work on muscular conditioning, expression, and musicality. I have many years of experience performing on these instruments in all different styles, including symphonic, chamber music, rock, pop, musical theatre, world music and more. If you're thinking about playing in a band or orchestra or taking an audition, I've been there many times so I can help you prepare.

In addition to instrumental lessons, I offer sessions in music theory and related areas of musical interest. Whether you're a beginner to the world of notated music, a hobbyist who wants to understand things like chords, keys, scales and harmony, or a current music student who could use some assistance with your course of study, I can craft a one-on-one plan that works for you. I hold Bachelor and Master's degrees in music, which means I have many years of music theory training ranging from basic to advanced concepts.

If you live in the city of Portland, you're eligible to receive lessons in your home or online. If you live outside of the city in places like Hillsboro, Vancouver, or Lake Oswego, or even outside the state of Oregon, I am happy to offer you online lessons.
