"Working in private schools has shown me that the combination of humor and one-on-one support enriches students' experiences with both content and skill acquisition. In my classroom, I strive to pass on my joy of learning and give students the attention they need to make gains in everything they attempt, and tutoring is a natural extension of this practice!
By setting small, individualized goals for children, they experience the encouragement and success of meeting these benchmarks. This means that every challenge becomes interesting rather than frustrating, and learning can be enjoyable. Notorious for funny anecdotes and tactics that help children remember facts, I try and alleviate the pressure generally associated with school so that children see education as an on-going part of their life, rather than something they do exclusively in school.
As a tutor, the goals I set for students are based on the skills they need to acquire, but each learning plan is structured to engage the student's individual interests. A child interested in dinosaurs is more inclined to read and write extensively for a number of purposes if they're given information about the Jurassic Period and the different dinosaurs that populated the Earth.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with each child, and hope that I can share some of my expertise and love of learning!" less...
