"Since graduating from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, I have worked as a professional film/video editor on commercial and documentary projects. Additionally I've worked as a teacher, and I've consistently found that my work with students is by far the most personally rewarding part of my day. I get a lot of satisfaction from guiding students on their own creative journeys; by encouraging my students to follow their creative pursuits, I hope to empower them to work harder in order to fully realize their creative potential.
Shortly after graduating, I taught Film Editing for a semester at Marlboro College, in Vermont. More recently, I worked for several years as an extracurricular arts instructor at Manhattan Youth, where I taught Filmmaking and Photography classes to middle- and high-school students. As an instructor, I supervised student projects, designed lessons, and worked closely with the students to help them realize their work. One of the student films that I coached was screened as part of the DYCD Initiative at the Tribeca Film Festival.
As a professional film and video editor, I have acquired a lot of technical expertise in video and audio software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut, and Logic. This technology can be daunting at first, but for students who are interested in pursuing a career in filmmaking, I can provide them with a structured and hands-on approach to the software. Moreover, I can teach the artistry and craft that goes into creating a compelling audiovisual work - whether a film, commercial, documentary, or music video. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than in sharing my knowledge of this medium to students who may themselves be interested in pursuing a career in film and television." less...
