"I hold an undergraduate degree in Ecology and Evolution from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where I graduated magna cum laude. My academic achievements include perfect SAT scores and a 99th percentile ranking on my GREs. I received a PhD from the University of Nevada, Reno, during which I was awarded a prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. My dissertation focused on the ecology of plant-pollinator interactions, employing advanced statistical methods and mathematical modeling. Following my PhD, I was awarded an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UC Davis, where I studied plant microbiomes.

Before graduate school, I taught over 1,500 middle and high school science students, with more than half from low-income schools in West Virginia and Eastern Ohio. Since then I have instructed over 400 university students. My teaching philosophy is rooted in place and inquiry-based learning, emphasizing curiosity about the natural world, the capacity to formulate and answer questions with evidence, and the skills to critically assess arguments.

In my tutoring sessions, I employ active learning techniques to engage students and help them apply abstract concepts to real-world problems. I foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. My number one foal is providing thoughtful, flexible feedback, with the aim of reducing grade anxiety and focus on genuine learning.
