"Hello! I'm originally from a small town in upstate New York. I've been fortunate enough to be a working screen and television writer in Los Angeles for over 20 years, and I've been teaching screenwriting and playwriting for 7 years. I love working with students of all ages and experience.
I understand the writing process and also what makes a good screenplay. I can teach you all about the mechanics of screenwriting such as story structure, scene dynamics, how to write dialogue, etc. -- AND I can also meet you exactly where you are in your creative process and help you develop YOUR personal voice and path forward as a writer.
For the past 7 years I've been teaching Intro to Playwriting at the University of La Verne in La Verne, CA. Over the past 20 years I have written 16 Feature Screenplays for the major studios.
Before I went to film school I studied Photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology, School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, in Rochester, NY., and I immersed myself in all aspects of photography and the visual arts.
Just like my approach to teaching screenwriting I understand what makes a good photograph or other work of visual art, and I also understand the unique creative process of becoming a visual artist. Whether you are taking photos or painting for your own personal vision, or are looking to do commercial work, I can give you insightful feedback and guide you to creating images that are both stronger and more authentic to who you are as an emerging artist.
If you think I might be someone you'd like to work with -- or if you have any questions -- please contact me." less...
