"I am extremely passionate about helping students gain confidence in their upcoming standardized tests, and ultimately, themselves. I initially began tutoring my peers after I scored a 36 in all sections of the ACT in early 2016. At first, the awkwardness of the tutor-student dynamic between me and my peers was difficult for me to navigate, so I dropped the dynamic entirely. My goal is to be more like an encouraging friend. I have found that this strategy can work on students that have tried several other tutors with little success.

I learned early on that my approach to math and word problems, as well as testing in general, seemed to differ from the strategies used by those around me. Since then, the numbers speak for themselves. Out of the 50+ students I have tutored for the ACT in one or more categories, the average improvement has been just short of 5 points. I have also successfully taught students ages 12-25 in the SAT, PSAT, ESL, Geometry, AP Calc AB & BC, AP Statistics, and Multivariable Calculus.

I revel in the successes of my students; it's the favorite part of my job. I joined Wyzant because I am looking to expand my clientele beyond word of mouth. I have some experience in group sessions, but I believe 1:1 tutoring is the most effective way to improve scores. I hold a Finance degree from Ohio State, and have multiple years of tax accounting experience at a nationally recognized firm. I have since pursued tutoring full time.
