"I have been a professional writer and editor for 10 years, with an emphasis on criticism, which means that I have to eloquently and carefully articulate what I think and feels about a subject and why. It is a form of teaching, a way of helping readers understand a topic or a work of art better, maybe seeing it through a different lens. I have written for Reverse Shot, Mubi, Playboy, Vulture, Entertainment Weekly, The Brooklyn Rail, and a plethora of other outlets, working with editors and other writers, so I am accustomed to collaborating and communicating. I also edit manuscripts, fiction and nonfiction, on a freelance basis, which means that I am basically acting as a tutor for other professional writers, helping them work on their prose and grammar, making their arguments as clear as possible, making their writing enjoyable to read. I find this work very rewarding, and I think it makes me a better tutor, especially when it comes to matters of language, writing, and literature.

I understand the trials and tribulations of writing and studying English. I have tutored students, both high school and college.
