"Hi, I’m Lauren! I’m a professional writer and am excited to share that my debut novel, “The Art of Pretend” will be published this summer by Graydon House, an imprint of HarperCollins. Prior to writing fulltime, I worked in restaurant PR for seven years. I am extremely comfortable with editing, proofreading and reading for tone and narrative structure, so whether it’s your English homework, a longform essay or a research assignment, I’m here to help!

A bit more about me: I graduated from Lafayette College with a BA in International Affairs. While a student, I was selected from a competitive pool of applicants to become a Writing Assistant with the College Writing Program. As a Writing Assistant, or “WA” as we called it, I was assigned a writing-intensive class for a semester and partnered with students to edit their assignments and polish their writing skills. I also held bi-weekly office hours, which were open to all students at the college. Additionally, I have worked with high school students to edit and proofread their college application essays.

In working with students over the last ten years, I understand that writing can sometimes create undue stress. Oftentimes, we have great ideas, but it can be challenging to present them cohesively. This is where I come in: through my one-on-one approach, I strive to help others not only break down their assignments, but find their own voices as writers. I typically work with high school and college students, but am happy to work with junior high students, as well. I am personable and welcome any feedback from both students and parents.
