"Tutoring has always been a part of my life. Whether it is helping at the elementary, junior, senior, or undergraduate level, I can tailor the most effective plan for a student to get ahead, improve their grades or, in tandem, edit works in progress.
Although I have no direct teaching experience in higher education, I believe I possess the requisite skills and desire to enable me to succeed in this position. Teaching has always been an interest of mine since, at the junior and high school levels, I was asked to be a Teacher’s Assistant for both the Math and English courses. I will never forget how rewarding those experiences were. Through my Psychology undergraduate career at Hunter College and my graduate work at John Jay College, I have noticed the need for approachability, patience, and time-sensitive and constructive feedback. I keenly understand the necessity for timely reporting and the ability to meet deadlines. At Hunter College, I was a staff writer for Psychology News, and meeting various deadlines throughout the semesters was a strength of mine. This skill, I believe, is a quality that a well-rounded tutor should possess.
During my career at John Jay College, I have been in the M.A. Forensic Counseling track which has taught me skills and techniques to better engage another person, as well as to maintain professionalism and approachability. My focus is currently clinical neuroscience thus demonstrating a strong background in the hard sciences as well. I have a strong interest in research and therefore would be able to help those in need from a research perspective. I also have experience tutoring in the Family and Human Sciences realm, where I have privately tutored an undergraduate for 2 years ongoing.
Some students may require extra guidance to ensure that they understand the material. That level of support is something that I can provide in an unadulterated manner as I have an ardent sense of patience and creative thinking which would help me to engage students and help them to better unde" less...
