"Hello! My name is Stephanie and I am a first-generation college graduate. I received my B.A in 2022 in Psychology with a minor in criminal justice. My experience tutoring kids dates back to when I was a kid in high school volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club in Paterson as well as peer tutoring as part of my high school National Honor Society requirements. I also volunteered to help kids in my community through my local library's "reading buddies" program and math club. I started tutoring in my sophomore of college and instantly fell in love with the art of teaching. My more recent experience substitute teaching in an urban school district solidified this passion I was developing for educating youth. I served as a personal aide for students with special needs, however, more of my time in the building was spent substituting long-term for a third-grade Language Arts/Social Studies vacancy as well as a third-grade Math/Science vacancy. In these roles I worked with students in a classroom setting AND one-to-one settings, providing diligent supervision of students while creating a safe space where students are encouraged to focus on their learning and growth. I engaged youth in planned lessons using provided materials as well as aids that go beyond the books, including technology. I currently have the pleasure of continuing to serve the same school as an ESL teacher for grades K-5. Aside from my tutoring/teaching experience, I have other experiences with youth including summer camp counseling and working with mental health and behavioral patients in a group home setting. I have always been very enthusiastic about helping kids because they are our future.
I am currently available Monday-Friday after school and in the evening. I can also be available on Saturday and Sunday if scheduled in advance. I understand that every student has unique needs so please contact me so that we can more appropriately make arrangements to suit those needs." less...
