"I believe my personal history is the best way to understand my success as a tutor and academic coach. It's worth mentioning that I didn't apply myself academically until my 2nd year of college managing a B average but a 4.0 final 2 years in college and 3.85 in graduate school. I learned what and how to study and self-taught the fundamentals of academic success. including time management, note-taking, study habits, test-wiseness, and *motivation* to persevere (critical to use internal and external motivators).
I am a clinical psychologist with a very diverse background including work as a teacher in AP Psychology, tutoring, study, and test-taking skills. I've worked in psychiatric hospitals, juvenile prisons, community, and university mental health centers, private practice, with 25 local law enforcement departments, consultant to high schools re mental health issues, etc. In addition to an in-depth knowledge of the academic foundations and key findings of psychology, I bring an unusual amount of real-world experience putting psychology to use in everyday life.
My enthusiasm for the field motivates me to share it with young people. It's so difficult for young people to realize how important it is to cultivate the skills necessary to achieve the academic success which is typically the best predictor of success in life.
