"Benjamin is a magna cum laude graduate of Columbia University, where he majored in History and wrote an honors thesis on American interwar journalism based on archival research in over a dozen archives around the world, which has just recently been published by Oxford University Press's Historical Research Journal. His work has been sponsored by Stanford’s Hoover Institution Archives and Columbia University’s European Institute, and he has also worked as an Electronic Research Assistant at Columbia University’s Digital Humanities Center. He has taught history and the humanities for the Open Classroom in Hong Kong and the Concord Review’s Academic Coaching service and Summer Research camps. He has also coached for National History Day and John Locke essay competitions. Having been bitten by the travel bug while a visiting student at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University in the UK, he returned to Europe to teach English at a bilingual school in Madrid as a Fulbright Teaching Assistant, conduct research as a Fulbright Fellow at the Free University of Berlin, and complete an MPhil in American History at Cambridge University. He is a passionate educator and researcher who finds great joy in helping students hone their research and writing skills.
Ben loves helping students discover their passion for history and research, and can provide curated lessons for students working on short or long-term historical research projects.
Ben combines a robust understanding of American and world history with a passion for helping students figure out how THEY best understand and process history. He is a digitally savvy researcher and can help you learn all the tricks of the trade for both learning history itself and how to most efficiently conduct historical research
