"Hey everyone! I'm currently a fourth-year student at Purdue University studying Industrial Engineering and Computer Science on a full-tuition scholarship. I have had over 500 hours of tutoring experience working with students from Preschool all the way up to the University level. My background in teaching began with running enrichment activities for preschoolers and nursery children at my local church. In high school, I tutored at my high school’s math resource center, providing free assistance to fellow students in subjects such as Algebra 1/2, Geometry, Precalculus, and BC calculus during my free periods. As my passion for teaching grew, I also joined a club that tutored underprivileged elementary schoolers in the Greater Chicago area, which I eventually rose to become the Vice President of. Most recently, I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for a calculus 1 course at Purdue, which gave me further insight on how to structure courses and learning plans for over 50 students.
Aside from my teaching experience however, one of my great assets is my personal experience as a high-achieving student. I took 11 AP courses (Computer Science A, Macroeconomics, US History, Environmental Science, BC Calc, Lang, Lit/Comp, Comparative Gov, US Gov, Psychology, and Chemistry) and earned 5s on all their exams. As a passionate writer in my free time, I have won multiple awards for my writing, including gold in the nationally recognized Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. These achievements, alongside numerous extracurriculars, helped earn me admission into top schools such as UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Emory, Northeastern, and Tufts. I would say my student journey has been far from easy though, and I believe those countless nights spent polishing essays and preparing for exams have paid dividends in allowing me to connect with the students I teach." less...
