"Hi there!
I am a recent graduate from Colorado Mesa University, where I achieved a 4.0 GPA as I earned my bachelor's in physics and my minor in mathematics. I tutored for 2 years at CMU and I am close to finishing my CRLA level III certification!
Many people struggle with math and physics, and rightfully so— they're TOUGH subjects!! And I know how it feels to be stressed, frustrated, and stuck for hours on problems you don't fully understand. Sometimes school brings up this anxiety and self-doubt that eats away at you and you feel like you just want to quit. I've been there.
It is really important to me that people feel supported and treated with kindness, especially in an academic setting because it can be so overwhelming already. For me, tutoring has been awesome in the sense that I can be a friendly resource to talk through tricky problems together with and provide encouragement or advice that, honestly, would’ve been helpful to hear when I was in school! My tutoring sessions are very student-led-- my job is not to provide answers, but to lead students to find them on their own. I feel like 90% of my work consists of me saying, "Great job! Now what?" Because ultimately, the goal of tutoring is for students to feel confident that they know the steps to take when faced with these problems on their own. I strive to promote independence and have people leave my sessions feeling like they can handle whatever challenges are thrown at them!
When I’m not tutoring, I am usually in the studio— I love metalcasting and juggling! (Not at the same time!) I’m taking some time after graduating to pursue my passions and see where they take me! A cool fact about me is that my first cast iron sculpture was on display in downtown Grand Junction for a year!
Please reach out if you have any questions, I hope to hear from you soon! Have a lovely day! :)" less...
