My 2018-2019 students earned ACT scores from 24 to 36 (a range of 74th to 99th percentile) and SAT scores from 1230 to 1580 (a range of 78th to 99th percentile). My tutoring method works by helping students learn content, concepts, problem-solving, and test-taking skills while developing the confidence they need to succeed (confidence is surprisingly important!). I listen carefully to my students and develop strategies that work well for them as individuals. Each student is unique and every session is personalized depending on which area they need help on. My teaching approach is patient, leaving time for learning to unfold. I often use what is called the Socratic Method of teaching, guiding students to the correct answer with a series of questions instead of simply giving them the answer. This method has been extensively researched by learning scientists, many of whom believe it is the best way for students to learn.
