"I am an encouraging classroom teacher and professor with a distinct enthusiasm for English Language Arts! I earned my B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in reading, my M.Ed. in English and Communications Education, and my Reading Specialist Certification – each with honors. I am certified in K-6, English 7-12, and as a K-12 Reading Specialist. I have taught at all levels – with years of experience in primary, secondary, and higher education. Over the years, I have worked not only with all age groups and stages of development in numerous subject areas, but also with diverse populations and backgrounds. Moreover, my classroom and tutoring experience includes K-12 schools, community college and university classrooms, and after-school tutoring programs. I truly enjoy teaching all levels of academics and age groups and am grateful for the variety in my role as an educator.

My main expertise is in English Language Arts, writing instruction, reading assessment, and intervention in addition to adept knowledge in best practices in Education. My dedication to my students’ success generates an individualized path for each student. After evaluating a student’s needs and goals, I devise a personalized learning plan in collaboration with the student and their supports. This may involve reviewing materials before each session to direct instruction, assigning work between sessions, scaffolding assignments that require one-on-one support, or administering assessments to monitor progress. My focus is to provide safe spaces where students are valued and feel comfortable to learn. I am passionate about helping others succeed and become independent. Additionally, I bring high-energy into teaching to incorporate an approach that builds self-esteem.
