"Hello! I am a middle school reading teacher with a degree in elementary education and a minor in creative writing. I also have my MAEd in curriculum and instruction, focusing on instructional effectiveness. I attended The University of Nebraska Kearney for both my degrees. I am currently a certified k-6 teacher.

I am a reading teacher. This will be my third year teaching. In my first year, I taught second grade, and this will be my second year teaching middle school reading. For struggling readers, I like to model reading to them. I will have students read aloud using an "I do, we do, you do" approach. This helps students learn new concepts and can help when applying reading strategies to assignments. I help students better understand the text through vocabulary development and annotation, which is interacting with the text. Comprehension is critical, and when students can confidently understand and apply reading concepts, they will begin expanding their learning opportunities.

I taught high-ability learners reading in my second-grade classroom and gave tier-one instruction to all second-grade students. I am currently teaching tier-one reading instruction to sixth graders. We focus on literary devices, annotation, the use of vocabulary, comprehension, poetic devices, prose, verse, non-fiction texts, etc. I teach three novels in my classroom. I also teach reading intervention for struggling readers who need support but who don't qualify for special education.
